When to use o7
It appears at solemn moments as much as at casual hellos, which is why it never left the chat.
- rogerthat_pl last stream today, thanks for everything
- pixiehue chat, see you tomorrow same time

Where o7 comes from
The salute existed as a text emoticon long before emote platforms: one character draws the head, the other the bending arm. Online games used it for decades to greet teammates or honour a departure, and Twitch later made it an official emote. The 7TV version shown here takes the salute back to its simplest form: a head, an arm, and full respect.

FAQ
How do I get the o7 emote on Twitch?
Twitch ships its own o7 emote to everyone. This 7TV version is a different take: install the 7TV extension, search "o7" on 7tv.app and add it to your set to use it on any channel.
What does o7 mean in chat?
It is a salute. Viewers type it to say goodbye to a retiring streamer, to greet chat at the start of a stream, or to honour a player who just did something noble, like sacrificing themselves for the team.
